The
Making Of An Album Jeremy had numerous requests for printed music for some of his previous albums. In anticipation for similar requests for this one, we decided to make one available. The format we chose for the songbook was the standard lead sheet style familiar to most performing musicians (melody line, lyrics and chord changes). I created the entire songbook using Finale 98 software for all the sheet music and CorelDraw 7 for the cover and index pages. I simply played the melody for each song into the Finale software, using its real-time "Hyperscribe" function for instant transcription. Then I typed in all the lyrics and entered them into the score using Finale's "Click Assignment" lyric function. After that, I entered the chord symbols over the appropriate melody notes by playing the chords on my MIDI controller while engaging Finale's automatic MIDI input chord feature. Then it was just a matter of formatting, adding repeats, markings, etc. to complete the layout for each song. The final layout yielded an 81/2" X 11" songbook (to be printed on 11" X 17" paper then folded in half). This completed our total "package" and makes a nice accessory to the cassette or CD for anyone who wants to perform any of the songs themselves.
